Did your graduating class have a class motto?

My high school class voted for “The mind is its own place and in itself can make a heaven of hell or a hell of heaven.” That’s a quote from John Milton’s poem paradise lost. While that is undoubtedly true, I felt it was long and even a little pretentious.

My candidate for class motto was the first one, “Fortune favors the bold”.

More than once in my life I have made the bold choice. Not always with what would seem at first glance to be a fortunate outcome. On the other hand, fortune or the Universe has used the opportunity to teach a valuable life lesson.

I have lived my life boldly and I am content with the result.

My first post on Medium was about another motto that has guided me in my life. Whatever the mind can conceive and believe it can achieve.
